To anyone thinking about putting an addition on...
We are the Smart Family. We hired Carlo Barletta and his construction company to put a 3-storied addition on the back of our house: 2 back bedrooms and a bath room upstairs, a big kitchen and a dining area on the main floor, and a full basement. I am writing to say how happy we are with the job Mr. Barletta and his team of able workers did. From beginning to end, he behaved in a professional, capable way.
In the early stages he never pushed us into signing anything before we were ready, and was easily accessible if we needed to ask him any questions. We also found him wonderfully creative. He would come up with many refreshing solutions to various problems with the initial layout and setup of our new addition.
He seemed to keep in mind that we were trying to stay within a budget and would suggest various alternatives to different things along the way that could help us save money.
He came promptly to work every day and left after a full workday. He sometimes even worked late. He made sure the construction site was always left safe and secure in the evening before going home. He and his men also cleaned up the mess they made during the day, so that it was ready for the start of the new day.
Mr. Barletta and his men were always polite to us and would explain what they were doing. The men seemed to get along well with each other (Some were family members), and I noticed Mr. Barletta was always patient and kind when he instructed them. Mr. Barletta set very high standards for himself and his men. He has a very strong work ethic, and insists that his men adhere to these same standards. With his expert carpentry skills the walls, floors, ceilings and roof were all sturdily and quickly built.
Furthermore, he had the skills of a diplomat. He was able to coordinate all the subcontractors that came to the house without "stepping on any toes," and still made sure they all did the jobs they were expected to do.
You would certainly not be making a mistake if you hired Mr. Barletta to do your addition. I feel we are so lucky that we hired him. We didn't have to experience the horror stories one hears about when hiring contractors. I can't imagine anyone being better than Mr. Barletta. From beginning to end, we felt we were in good, capable hands.
Bravo! Mr. Barletta. You did a wonderful job on our house. You've shown yourself to be a skilled, able craftsman, but also a kind, caring man. Thank you so much.
